Worker Killed by Falling Construction Equipment in the Bronx

A Bronx recycling center worker was killed in a freak accident Saturday, police said. The 47-year-old man was welding a piece of metal on to the front bucket of a bulldozer when the bucket fell on top of him on Exterior St. near E. 146th St. in the South Bronx at about 1:30 p.m., cops said. 24 Hospitalized After Suspected Carbon Monoxide Poisoning at NYC Church

Two dozen people went to the hospital for suspected carbon monoxide poisoning after they were evacuated from a church in Manhattan. Firefighters responded to Saint Malachy's Church on West 49th Street in Midtown on Tuesday morning for reported elevated levels of the gas. The elevated levels of carbon monoxide were first detected in the basement of the church where the nonprofit Encore Community Services offers meals and other assistance to senior citizens. "The seniors weren't feeling well, a bunch of the staff specifically were passing out and were verbally unresponsive," said Encore Community Services intern Gabrielle Morales. Boat Crashes Kill 2 Women, Injure Several Others

Two women were killed in separate crashes in the water off Long Island on Sunday, officials said. An 18-year-old woman was on a Jet Ski when it crashed into a 35-foot boat around 10:30 a.m. off of Baldwin Harbor, a hamlet in Hempstead, Nassau County police said. The victim, later identified as Caitlin Rose McDonald of Rockville Center, was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Disney Recalling ‘Toy Story 4’ Toy Over Choking Hazard

Disney yanked thousands of the plush toy “Forky” — featured as a sidekick in “Toy Story 4” — from the shelves because they pose a choking hazard, officials said Tuesday. The company recalled 80,000 of the stuffed characters over their detachable “googly” plastic eyeballs, which pose a threat to youngsters who could swallow them, according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission. Stagehands Injured by Falling Debris in Midtown Theater

Falling debris injured three stagehands, one critically, inside a theater in Midtown Manhattan on Thursday morning. Emergency crews responded to the scene outside the Golden Theatre on 45th Street just after 11 a.m.The stagehands were working on a catwalk in the rear of the theater when the accident happened. Teenage Construction Worker Falls from Roof

A 17-year-old construction worker is in critical condition after falling from scaffolding on the roof of a home in Freeport. Police say the teenager and another man were working on a home on South Bayview Avenue when they fell at least 30 feet when makeshift scaffolding collapsed. The mayor of Freeport says the teenager hit his head and is now in critical condition at South Nassau Communities Hospital. The other employee was taken to Nassau University Medical Center.
